Sofia Nyblom at Svenska Dagbladet wrote on Oct 7th, 2018: “With "Tristessa", Swedish opera art steps into the contemporary world on a large scale, and portrays the only thing that can save humanity and the planet: the painful process where narcissism turns into true love. Solicitous – and beautiful.” and “I don't know which touches me more: the dizzying video sequence from inside a shimmering red vagina, or the female voice choir…”

Being the studio behind the projections of the said opera, we were very happy to read about the receptions in the paper the day after the premiere.

Tristessa is the opera adaptation of Angela Carter's surreal novel “The passion of new Eve”.

Transferred to stage-musical form, this is an existential drama that borrows its queer body from Virginia Woolf's "Orlando," condensing the mythic references of Carter's novel into a resounding art installation, a witch's concoction seasoned with steamy physicality, brutal sadism, and spiritualized eroticism.
