Bloom City Match game character and meta animation

Pet Panic is a mobile match-3 game produced by Queen Digital Entertainment, led by Sebastian Knutsson.

Cinematic joined the project early on to help shape the game’s visual language, character behavior, and animation style - laying the foundation for expressive characters and long-term scalability.

We worked with the character design of the two lead characters, Luna the Cat and Buddy the dog. And we brought them to life through Spine with a focus on nuanced motion, clear emotional beats, and distinct personality.

At the core of our contribution is a flexible avatar system built in Spine that supports nearly six million unique character combinations.

The system balances consistent animation quality with emotional clarity and reliable performance across every variation.

Starting from the provided design sketches of Buddy and Luna, Cinematic further developed the characters and defined their emotional range. Fear, curiosity, and joy were given distinct expressions tailored to a cat and a dog, with strong silhouettes and precise poses ensuring clear readability at a small on-screen scale.
